I’m guessing your first question is

“Why the angry ball?”

It was late one night and I was asked by a friend to model the angry react from facebook. As a joke I decided to make it as quickly as possible with absolutely no reference to what it actually looked like, this was the result and it’s been my go-to profile picture for basically everything ever since.

 About Me:

My name is Wain Nisbet and I live in the UK. I enjoy creating and playing games, ever since I was young I drew up different areas and characters for games I played and it has always been a strong passion for me.

When I got to 16 I decided to join a course for game development at college. I did this because at the time it was the only way of properly learning the basic rules of game design and development.

I was let go from my job working in a brickworks after 2 years due to management deciding to lower the production rates and so I spent 2 years using the money I had earnt to create my own game as a pure passion project. I am proud of the results but strive to greatly improve on what was created before. The process taught me a LOT about what goes into creating assets for a game, such as how to best lay out sprite sheets and textures, all the rules for creation of game-ready 3D models and the difference between different 3D file types.

I also learnt how to manage my time by creating and following a set schedule while also leaving enough room to move things around if they end up taking more time than expected.

The aspect of game development I am most focused on is the visual designs for 3D models and 2D Sprites.

What I like:

I enjoy a wide range of games including FPS, Action games, Roguelikes, but I have always had a strong focus on MMO games. Not always the traditional Idea of an MMO either.

One of the biggest games for me growing up was Toontown. Toontown opened imagination like a bubble and my mind was constantly thinking up the possibilities that could come out of the future of the game. The game may have been shut down in 2013 but to this day there are still fan made servers that continue to grow the game and add the kinds of things I used to think about back when I played as a kid.

My personal favourite genre is story-based JRPGs, for example my #1 favourite game of all time is Persona 3. That game completely changed my idea of what story in a game could be, all the characters have their own motives and feel, well, alive! The plot threads throughout the game and the STRONG connection every thread has to the games main theme of coming to terms with Fate really inspired me.
